Fishermen suffering consequences of Yameen's unwise policies: Shifaz

President Yaameen’s policies have decreased the market value of fish, and destroyed the local tourism projects established by the former President Nasheed, the Maldivian Democratic Party Vice President Shifaz has said.

Speaking at the MDP rally held at AA.Ukulhas last night, Shifaz said that fishermen were suffering the consequences of President Yaameen’s “unwise policies”, and highlighted the fact that Ukulhas had greatly benefitted from the guest house projects introduced by former President Nasheed.

Shifaz claimed that the former President had been jailed by President Yaameen because he realizes how unpopular he is among the Maldivian people, and fears a hands-down victory for President Nasheed in the next election.

Furthermore, the MDP Vice President highlighted that while the authorities were “running like headless chickens” over the injuries sustained by the First Lady following the explosion aboard the presidential speedboat, the Government and Independent Commissions had turned a blind eye to the atrocities committed against women by the current regime.

Shifaz described the former President Nasheed as “the global president”, and assured the public that he will soon be released by the efforts of the international community.
