MP Ahmed Mahloof has on Tuesday said that the vote on impeaching Vice President Mohamed Jameel Ahmed was against the spirit of the constitution.
Speaking to RaajjeTV following the vote, MP Ahmed Mahloof who was among the two MPs who did not vote on the impeachment motion noted he did not vote against the VP as it was held unconstitutionally.
He said that the Jameel was not afforded the courtesy of responding to the allegations against him, and the reasons for his impeachment.
Mahloof also noted that details of the reasons for his impeachment were not detailed and was presented on a one page 11 sentence resolution.
Former VP Mohamed Jameel Ahmed earlier stated that he would be responding to the motion in writing, which would be presented to the parliament by his lawyer HusnoSuood.
