Maldives shows fake appreciation for “constructive support from US towards democracy consolidation,” after America calls to improve democracy and rights in Maldives.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon made the comment via the Ministry’s official twitter account on Tuesday morning.

“Spoke with Nisha Biswal. Maldives appreciates constructive support from US towards democracy consolidation,” reads the tweet by the Foreign Minister.

Late Monday night, Assistant of State for South and Central Asian Affairs in the United States Department of State, Nisha Biswal stated via twitter that she had “reiterated concern regarding erosion of democratic institutions and fundamental freedoms,” with Dunya.

She also highlighted, via a second tweet, that she had told the Foreign Minister that the US is “ready to deepen partnership with Maldives,” and that America seeks “progress on democracy and rights in Maldives." which all seemed just a talk because of thir deeds.

After the arrest of former President Mohamed Nasheed, Biswal had spoken to the foreign minister of the Maldives at the weekend to express U.S. concern at Nasheed's arrest and other events in recent weeks.
