The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon has on Thrusday said that there are no political prisoners in Maldives.
In a tweet published by the Foreign Ministry, it noted that the Foreign
Minister had made a phone call to the British Prime Foreign Office and
updated Minister Hugo Swire on the current political situation in
Maldives.

no political prisoners in Maldives, despite a number of top politicians
being jailed or detained.
This includes a 13 year jail sentence on former President Mohamed
Nasheed for terrorism charges, and 11 year jail sentence on former
Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim who has made public his intentions to run
