Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has decided to
engage in the peace talks - initiated between the government and
political parties, without the inclusion of party leader Mohamed
Nasheed.
The former president was initially listed among the team
that would conduct talks with the government. However, the party’s
National Steering Committee last night decided to exclude him from the
team. Some MDP members had stated that the decision was made according
to Nasheed’s wishes.
The National Steering Committee’s decision is also to be presented to the government today.
